Bringing theatre to the village since 1946

Where it all started…

The original Burley Players was founded in 1946 by Mrs Dorothy Hornsby, but later disbanded in 1962. Jeanne Wilde came to Burley in 1984 and was keen to find a amateur dramatics company to join, this is when the Burley Players was reignited and it’s been a thriving theatre company ever since!

1989, the year of the pantomime

In 1989, the Burley Players showcased their first pantomime of Cinderella, it was of course a great success and we’ve since performed pantomimes from a range of script-writers, including:

  • Dick Whittington

  • Snow White

  • Old King Cole

  • Sleeping Beauty

And many more!

Where we call home…

Having been our performing ground for over 40 years now, we really do count Burley Village Hall as our home.
